The Society for Gentlemanly Quarrels ("the GQ") is a brotherhood of
dilettante submission grapplers. Matches take place en plein air, under cover of night.
Grapplers quarrel in their underclothes. Victory is determined by
verbal or gestured surrender. Bouts are not divided into rounds, and
will continue until the dominance of one grappler is determined.
Participants are classified by weight, and three divisions are
recognized: Lightweight (under 155 lbs),
Middleweight (155-185 lbs)
and Heavyweight (over 185 lbs).
Gentlemen of any division are encouraged to quarrel with one another; a
lighter man who successfully grapples a heavier opponent earns simply
the glory that hides in high places. Championships of three sizes are
awarded by acclamation.
Fisticuffs
are anathema to the convivial nature of the Society, and are
not permitted.
